EXPRESSIVE ARTS PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC COUNSELLING

Supporting CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS aged 6 - 19 years in weekly one-to-one therapy

These expressive arts sessions support your child or teen through challenging times in their life whether that be emotional, social, behavioural or developmental.  All sessions are uniquely designed to support and work through the unique challenges your child or teen is facing.

Families are provided support along the way in addition to foster a healing and whole family structure.

Helping young people to flow with life

Our sessions are founded upon the understanding that self expression, creativity, and art making can lead to positive change and personal growth. Research has proven that art helps us process experiences and emotions, build strength, heal and connect.

It is especially effective for children and adolescents who do not yet possess the ability to make full sense of their feelings, their world, who they are and how they want to express themselves and move around within it.

The therapeutic arts are a very effective way of working with young people who may be going through a difficult or confusing time. This may be due to specific changes in the young person's life or perhaps the young person is struggling with longer term difficulties such as anxiety, illness or disability, low self esteem, a lack of belonging, loneliness or identity struggles.

It may even be that your child or teen simply doesn't have a concrete sense of self and would like to feel more confident within themselves and in the environments they find themselves in daily. What may be difficult to put into words, or even unknown in spoken language, can be expressed, processed and transformed through ART, MOVEMENT, STORYTELLING and MINDFULNESS.

I offer young people a safe, accepting and truly compassionate space in which to work through big feelings, crisis and difficulties, to know themselves better, to understand and process their life experiences, to manage their emotions and behaviour, express themselves in productive and positive ways, to feel self empowered and self worth and to offer them unconditional support and empathy in times of challenge.
